01 The aircraft

Built to be launched from cover, and to stay quiet.

Everything about the airframe follows from one rule: the team that launches it must not be found because of it.

  • Micro-scale footprint 118 g all-up mass, 544 mm deployed wingspan. Folds into a rugged container, attachable directly to the combat rig.
  • Aerodynamic efficiency Endurance to 17.8 minutes and roughly 11.8 km still-air operational range at 39.7 km/h cruise.
  • Dual-mission profile Fire-and-forget: one-way bounded search and report, prioritising soldier safety over airframe recovery. Recoverable: autonomous return to an offset waypoint with the full onboard flight audit retained.
  • Modular bay A dedicated 10 g nose payload capsule.
  • LiteAI onboard SURTR flies on LiteAI, the Norns system sized for this airframe: the onboard vision and reporting node, the report protocol, and the ground operator application it reports into. The Norns system.
